Important Advice Regarding Meningococcal B (MenB) Concerns in Buckinghamshire

We are aware of recent reports regarding a Meningococcal B (MenB) outbreak. At present, there is no change to routine NHS guidance in Buckinghamshire.

The MenB vaccine is part of the routine childhood immunisation schedule, and we would strongly encourage parents to ensure their children are up to date with their vaccinations.

For older children, teenagers, and adults, vaccination is not routinely offered on the NHS.

It is important to be aware of the symptoms of meningitis and sepsis, which can include:

  • Fever

  • Severe headache

  • Neck stiffness

  • Sensitivity to light

  • Vomiting

  • Drowsiness or confusion

  • A rash that does not fade when pressed

If you or your child develop symptoms suggestive of meningitis, please seek urgent medical attention (call 999 or attend A&E).
